A Wisconsin Railfan Blog

Back on June 24th my spouse and I took a ride on the Milwaukee Road 261 from Milwaukee to the Wisconsin Dells and back. This was our third trip on the 261 and we plan to be on it again this fall.

Here are a few images from our last trip worth sharing:

261Here's the 261 coming back into the Kilbourn depot from the lunch excursion to New Lisbon. We had lunch in Wisconsin Dells at Monk's. Afterward we stopped in Captain Brady's Showboat Saloon for a couple of cold ones. That bartender was full of great local stories (legends too) and we enjoyed our visit immensely.

Dome CarWe were seated in the Sky Dome this trip. Here it is just before the Cedar Rapids at the end of the train.

Happy ManHere's a happy man!

Happy WifeAnd his happy wife!

I captured an unusual site on the train this time too. One of the passengers in our car told me about the curious site in the private car just beyond the Sky Dome. We all had a quiet chuckle about this as we imagined the need for a turn of the wheel while someone else had other business going on.

Brake RoomFor the brakeman who has everything...
